Project presented by Vince DiIonna, proposed an illuminated monument sign for St. Aloyisus.  Will be a full color, digital message center to display text and images.  Proposing an illuminum cabinet with the brick-like material applied on the facade.

Committee Questions, Comments, Concerns

  • Whats the overall height of the existing sign? 6-7'
  • What will the materials be? Are you using brick?
  • Columns are oversized for your actual signage.
  • Why is the signage so tall.
  • Someone walking past the sign on the sidewalk will perceive the sign as being much taller due to the elevation and retaining wall.
  • Thinks using a fake brick will do a disservice to the historic materials of the church.
  • Would prefer to see the brick material before making a recommendation.
  • Why can't the EMC be added to the existing sign?  Per Mr. DiIonna the existing structure would not support the weight of the electronic message center.
  • What is the depth of the sign? Per Mr. DiIonna the depth is 18".
  • Suggest that the white columns are more attractive than the fake brick.  Suggest an off-white for the color of the stone.

Motion to disaprove as presented by all members present.  Presenter to return with better proposal to include material samples and a reduced sign.

Blink Signs revised the proposed monument sign to reflect the feedback given by the local design review committee at the original review on 2/26/19.  The newly revised sign proposal is reduced in height, updated the finish and material coloring, simplified the overal design, reduced the column width by 3', and added a base/plinth element.

Committee voted to approve the revised sign design as presented.
